It’s another pile on from one side to disgrace and shame the other. This is an attack on people who defended the film. I think it’s a completely awful waste of time with almost nothing funny in it. Hell for what’s worth, I hate the new film.

Our discussion thread is still up, still free for anyone to say how much they hate the new film.
Hell their Ghostbusters review was even more popular on our sub than their Force Awakens one. We’ve had tons of those including the RLM one frontpage. No despite what you think it’s not because it’s a negative ghostbusters video.
I pulled this video and I pulled it many times. Guess I’ll jump in front of the bullet here. Their earlier video reviewing the Ghostbusters reboot, which described the movie as a “theatrical disaster, horribly unfunny, juvenile, tasteless, dumb, forced, disgusting, pathetic and desperate” has accumulated more than 600,000 views.ĭespite the video’s popularity, moderators on the /r/movies subforum of Reddit, a platform increasingly known for power-crazed moderators and political censorship, don’t want it on their sub.Īfter the repeated deletion of links to the video was noted on /r/censorship, a subforum that tracks deletions across Reddit, a moderator from /r/movies arrived in the discussion thread to explain himself. He seemed a little upset. “Scienstist Man Analyzes Ghostbusters” has already attracted over 300,000 views. They attracted considerable fame in 2009 after publishing a 70-minute review of Star Wars Episode I: The Phantom Menace.Among other things, the review was noted for the clever way in which it called attention to the prequel’s bland characters. Red Letter Media is one of the most popular sources of film criticism on the web. They will also lie about having enjoyed the film, also to spite you.” It also has empowered others to pay to see the film in order to spite you, man-child. “An environment has been artificially created in order to make you look like a sexist for thinking the film is a big pile of s***. Not for everyone's tastes, but for some, this gassy adventure will hit all the right notes. The video, which drew attention to the creators’ attempts to leverage a tiny percentage of “chidlish, misogynistic comments” on the internet in order to “market their terrible film” also criticized the shaming of the film’s detractors.

There may be plenty of fart gags, but it's also full of important messages about acceptance, ambition, and friendship. It's a fantasy movie about children made entirely for children.

The way these children are celebrated extends to the crack team of child scientists enlisted to help bring a team of astronauts home safely. The only time the laughing is stifled is when school bully Damon (Joshua Herdman) tries to belittle them. Thunderpants plays on Patrick and Alan's quirks and eccentricities, but it is never mean or laughing at them. Grint delivers in Alan an eccentric, singular character who is a joy to watch, with his 1930s-style transatlantic accent and wide-eyed enthusiasm. The gassy Patrick is often hilarious in his near deadpan, hangdog voice-over, while Harry Potterstar Grint is superb - in only his second feature film - as Patrick's highly intelligent friend. Director Peter Hewitt had absolute affection for his main duo in 1991's Bill and Ted's Bogus Journey, and here he gives the same warmth to central characters Patrick Smash and Alan A. While the main theme might make it a no-go for some, this is a warm and loving movie that holds children in high regard. But overall the movie's message of acceptance on a personal and societal level is a positive one. His father leaves them and his mother is seen swigging from a hip flask during a doctor's appointment - this is the only alcohol use in the movie. There is also some sadness in Patrick's parents struggling to accept him for who he is. There are some scenes of threat, including Patrick being convicted of murder and put before a firing squad. Patrick is teased about his weight and his condition, with a number of the bullying scenes featuring violence Patrick and Alan are both punched in the face. Intelligence is also celebrated, as is friendship - as seen between central characters Patrick (Bruce Cook) and Alan (played by Harry Potter star Rupert Grint).
The main message is accepting what makes you different and learning not just to live with it but to embrace it and realize it's what makes you unique. It is also full of heart, and carries many positive messages. While the theme of a gassy boy is played on heavily, the movie isn't just one-note. Depending on personal preference for the cheekier side of children's humor, the theme alone will decide whether this movie is for you and your family. Parents need to know that Thunderpants is a comedy about an 11-year-old boy with near-ceaseless flatulence - so expect plenty of potty humor and fart jokes.
